शारदीय और बसंतिक नवरात्रि में नौ दिनों के मेलों का आयोजन किया जाता है और कई लोग परिवार और दोस्तों के साथ घूमने और आनंद लेने के लिए आते हैं। मंदिर के बारे में ऐसी मान्यता है कि जो व्यक्ति यहां अशुद्ध विचारों के साथ जाता है उसे भ्रामरी देवी (भंवर) के प्रकोप का सामना करना पड़ता है। दर्जनों लोगों के साथ हादसे हो चुके हैं। यहां बकरे की बलि देने का रिवाज है। मंदिर से सटे पूरे रोहतास और कैमूर जिले में इस तरह का कोई जलप्रपात नहीं है।
Tutla Bhavani ka Dham is situated at the foothills of Kaimur hill in Tilothu block, 25 km from district headquarter. French Buchanan has written in his travelogue that he reached here on 14 September 1812 AD. He has written that this statue is famous since ancient times. There are two idols of the goddess. One is an old and broken idol, while the other is a new one. There are many inscriptions around the statue. The old inscription dates back to the eighth century in the Sharda script, which is unread. The later inscription is of the Kharwar Nayak king Pratap Dhaval Dev of the twelfth century.
तुतला भवानी का धाम जिला मुख्यालय से 25 किलोमीटर दूर तिलौथू प्रखंड में कैमूर पहाड़ी की तलहटी में है। फ्रांसिसी बुकानन ने अपने यात्रा वृतांत में लिखा है कि वह 14 सितम्बर 1812 ई. को यहां पहुंचा। उसने लिखा है कि यह प्रतिमा प्राचीन काल से ही प्रसिद्ध है। वहां देवी की दो प्रतिमाएं है। एक पुरानी और खंडित मूर्ति है, जबकि दूसरी नई है। प्रतिमा के आस-पास कई शिलालेख हैं। पुराना शिलालेख शारदा लिपि में आठवीं सदी का है, जो अपठित है। बाद का शिलालेख बारहवीं सदी के खरवार नायक राजा प्रताप धवल देव का है।

In the statue, the demon is emerging from the neck of Mahisha, whom the goddess is holding with both her hands and hitting her with a trident.
19 अप्रैल 1158 ई. में मां दुर्गा की दूसरी प्रतिमा की प्राण प्रतिष्ठा के समय लिखा गया है। खुद खरवार नायक ने दूसरी प्रतिमा की प्राण प्रतिष्ठा कराई है। उस समय खरवार राजा का पूरा परिवार मौजूद था। इसकी पुष्टि शिलालेख करता है। घाटी के सटे कछुअर नदी बहती है। देवी की प्रतिमा गड़वाल कालीन मूर्ति कला का सुंदर नमूना है। देवी अष्टभुजी हैं। प्रतिमा में दैत्य महिष की गर्दन से निकल रहा है, जिसे देवी अपने दोनों हाथो से पकड़कर त्रिशूल से मार रही हैं।
